Lightspark 0.4.5 Release

Lightspark 0.4.5 is out! No big changes from the last Release Candidate, beside a –version switch that will make it easier to assess if the last and best version is being used.

In the mean time work has not stopped. A brand new parser for the AMF3 is already upstream and will be used to implement ByteArray::readObject and support for Local shared Objects. Moreover work is under way to build a supported application database where users will be able to report successes/failures and vote for applications to be supported. This system is being customized having Wine’s AppDB as a base, so thanks the the Wine team for their work!

Currently there no support for Local Shared Objects (so called flash cookies), but I plan to enforce very strict security policy on accesses to cookies.

    Thanks for the great effort.

I was thinking if it would be possible to use lightspark with Chromium and keep using adobe flash for firefox, that way we could try out the new stuff without having to worry about breaking normal usage. Would that be possible?

    I’m using Ubuntu 10.10

I suggest not installing lightspark system wide and using the MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH environment variable to tell chromium where the lightspark plugin is. Installing system wide and enabling the right plugin would not work as firefox is bugged. The bug has been fixed upstream and everything should work in firefox 4 betas
