Lightspark 0.4.4.2 released

Another week, another bugfix release for Lightspark! Apart from restoring the support for YouTube this release features the new plugin based audio framework that makes it possible to support other backends beside PulseAudio. At the moment both an ALSA and OpenAL plugins are being worked on.

As always you can grab the release here on Launchpad

The dev working on the port is now busy with some real life stuff. If anyone is willing to help he can drop by the IRC channel.

Do you have a link or pointer or any other info regarding using the plugin with Chromium? Installing the browser-plugin-lightspark package had no effect. Should it just work or do I need to dig into config files somewhere?

The code is written is standard C++ and is completely portable besides some specialized high performance code paths written in assembly that needs porting. Apart that some fixes are needed as there are endianness assumptions in the parsing code that are wrong on a Big Endian architecture

Type about:plugins in the address bar and you’ll see the available plugins. Lightspark should be there. Be sure to enable only one plugin to handle swf content

Yes, I assumed that nobody would be brilliant enough to attempt to port the assembly bits. Outstanding.

OK, I only get the “Default Plugin” so I guess it has to do with the fact I’m using Chromium 7.0.523.0 (59195). There are other oddities with this version such as Ctrl-B not working. I guess I’ll behave and go back to using a “normal” version.
